The Pardon Project of Lehigh County was created to help members of our community who were once convicted of a non-violent crime, completed their sentence, and turned their lives around – and only their past is holding them back from pursuing their potential.

At its October Public Hearings, the Board of Pardons heard 176 pardon applications (including 42 that were excused) and recommended 138 of them - a success rate of 78.4%. The applicants came from 38 counties. A total of 596 pardon cases were heard by the BOP this year and 81.5% (486) were recommended to the Governor.

Pennsylvania is leading the nation in pardon reform! The pardon process is entirely free, a lawyer is not necessary, and over 80% of the people going before the PA Board of Pardons actually end up with a pardon! Over a ten-year period, pardons brought over $16.5 million dollars in higher wages into communities all across the state. Lehigh County deserves its fair share!
Who We Are
Our Pardon Project Steering Committee came together at the invitation of the District Attorney and the Public Defender. Our members include the Clerk of Courts, Community Action Lehigh Valley, the Bar Association of Lehigh County, North Penn Legal Services, lawyers, peer specialists and community advocates, all volunteering to help. And we are part of a large and growing statewide network of Pardon Projects.
What We Do
We train volunteers (“Pardon Coaches”) so that they know the process, and we connect them to clients whom we think have an excellent chance of receiving a pardon from the Governor.
